Default Tying tool advice

Bit of help needed here folks. I'm tying a dry fly that needs a palmered body. The hook is a 16 so not far from one end to the other. Thing is when I wind my hackle towards the eye the waiting bobbin holder really gets in the way. So much so that every turn I have to make allowances or move it.

I've seen some fancy vices around with various bits of apparatus hanging off them or close by. I have no idea what these bits and pieces do, but surely one of them must be a place to park the bobbin whilst doing other things. If so can buy something as an add on? Any ideas most welcome.

Chris

Bobin holder? just lets your bobin hang out of the way. Cheap as chips mate.

Lots of different bobin hangers out there. I see them on E-bay,but probably find some of the big mail order companies do them.

Hi Chris, I use a few gadgets to help with my tying as I only have one arm, I use a bobbin cradle attached to my vice, I think I got it off of e-bay and also a home made one so I can position it anywhere around the vise, or I've seen more expensive one's that can be adjusted to any position, I find the best method if using it from the front of the hook is to put a half-hitch in the thread first, this stops the thread falling of the eye.

Thanks Craig, just had a look at a few on the bay. Think I'm going upstairs to find a coat hanger .
