Default Medalion sheets

Have noticed the above material mentioned a lot for tying sedge wings on the main American site.

Do we have another name for it in this corner of those globe - its not raffia is it ?

I'm sure there are plenty of medallion men on here who could tell me ?

Just trawled through the old tying box as I thought I had a pack of it, flat sheet material. No go. What I do have is " Mottled Web Wing".
Can't help futher.

no, it's not raffia, it's some kind of man-made material. I use it for spent willows aŽla oliver edwards. a little goes a long way (i.e. don't buy more than one pack).

I had an enquiry from a major fly tying company today to see if I had any idea what would they could use to replace wings made from this sheet as apparently it is no longer being made. They can't get it in sufficient quantity anymore although there appears to be the odd bit around here and there. Perhaps you should buy any you find now!
