Default Material Buying CO-OP (Whiting 100's)

Hi all,

I'd like to get a few more quality cock hackles for river flies. Celtic Flycraft do an interesting 4 pack of Whiting 100's in the river colours Celtic flycraft Whiting 100's saddle hackle and I'd like to buy all the sizes 12, 14, 16 and 18 which will be £51.96 without postage which is a fair bit...

I won't tie 25 dries of each colour (Black, Brown, Grizzle, Blue Dun) in each size (a dozen would be about right for me) so I'm looking for another tyer to split the packs with 1/2 and 1/2. It's just a split to get a sensible number of quality feathers and reduce the amount of expensive material sitting in the materials box.

So (to be clear) for £26.00 plus 1/2 postage to me and 1/2 postage on to you you'd get -

Over a dozen flies worth of Black whiting cock feathers in each size 12, 14, 16 and 18
... Brown ... in sizes 12, 14, 16 and 18
... Grizzle ... in sizes 12, 14, 16 and 18
... Blue Dun ... in sizes 12, 14, 16 and 18

I've been around here a while, sold a few bit and bobs privately on here and have only happy customers. You'd have to trust me to keep my side of the bargain and I'd have to trust you to pay your share so I don't end up with too many hackles and spend too much.

Is anyone interested?

Partnered up with Mr Cerebusx .

Nothing to stop anyone else who'd've been interested posting and sorting their own CO-OP though...

Good idea!

From time to time I've idly pondered trying to round up a few people to split a few whole capes, ideally with the retailer/a neutral doing the divvy up ... but I never got past the idly bit.

I guess say 4 good whiting capes between 10 people might work out £25-30 including postage and the vendors time? More if its a total PITA of a job.

I'd be interested ...

Thank-you for that. They look interesting and I may try them later to top up certain shades, but I really like the barb-count on the whitings and I think the feathers are longer so I'll still go for my suggestion above - unless my partner prefers to try the lathkills after seeing your link?

I think divvying up capes might be a bit much for me, because it's not my stock-in-trade, but for me even a 1/4 cape would last a fair while since I just tie for me. In fact I may have to rationalise some of my materials later this year.

Fly tying clubs and AA's must get together from time to time, but my fishing/tying isn't that social so I thought I'd try this out. I've bought wine and whisky in bulk like this and split the purchase so I'm suprised that more people don't do this what with the social power of the internet and such an active forum...
