Default Peeping Caddis

I've been working my way through the back issues of TFF that come with the digital subscription, and here is the first of the flies that come from the pages.

The Peeping Caddis

It's slightly modified, in that the pattern asks for peach wool, burnt at the end, and I have substituted golden pheasant tippet, for a similar effect.

As usual, all comments/criticisms welcome.

Tony

Burnt suede chenille is well worth considering for the tag as it's a lot more durable & showd up well under water as it remains semi-opaque. After burning the tip, tie in virtually all the way along the under-body to prevent a stepped effect.

The boy is spot on, I'd also use darker Partridge for the legs and always use the chenille, it's robust and solid and come sin host of colours.
I never see many of these in anglers boxes but jees they are effective for winter grayling.

Thanks guys, only used the tippet as I don't have any peach wool/chenille at the moment, but will use in future tyings.

Looks good to me, I can't see a fish not taking it because it has tippets rather than chenille, the chenille just makes a more durable pattern.

Great stuff!

Thanks Steve. Expect a few more patterns as I've got the five years of back issues to go through. The digital subscription is definately worth it.
