Default Where can I learn to tie flies???

I live in Greystones, Co Wicklow but work in Dublin. I started fly tying this year and although I've managed to tie a number of flies I still could do with some help.

Do any of our Irish forum members know where I can go to fly tying classes or where to get lessons near Dublin/Wicklow?

All help would be appreciated.

Regards,

Ray.

Your nearest qualified flydressing instructor is Peter O'Reilly in Navan. His contact details are on the APGAI (Ireland) website

Ray
I started tying a year ago using video's on youtube. With a bit of practice it was fairly easy to grasp. Start with something easy like a hare's ear nymph.

Thank you to those of you who replied to my query.

You Tube is certainly a great place to pick up some tips. I also got a DVD by Davie McPhail which was extremely helpful.

I know some fishing clubs hold classes during the winter months but I don't know of any near where I live or work.

Thanks,

Ray

Davie McPhails youtube Channel amazing flies and easy to follow instructions.

Davie does all sorts of flies for all species, his videos are top class, and are so easy to follow, I started tying after I saw his Park Shrimp Video had never tied before bought the stuff in to tie them and followed along, so so easy to follow and by watching him you will learn so much by one of the best tyers out there

Has anyone seen the 'Fly tying with David Cammis' videos on youtube?
I found them really helpful.

Frankie McPhillips in Enniskillen has at least two excellent dvd's on fly tying. A lot of "Irish Flies". E J Malone has an excellent book "Tying Flies " in the Irish Style--something like that. Frankie is in the phone book at the Buttermarket Enniskillen.
Those two combined with Davie Mc Phail will look after you well. Also try Laurence Finney on youtube. Anyways go and have fun.
Remember you dont need beautiful picturesque flies to catch trout and when you catch a trout on your own fly you will never again buy a fly (unless to copy it)
