Default Dubbing with brown pertridge ??

Can anyone help please A few years back I think I saw someone making a "dubbing rope" out of brown partridge.....I wasn't tying or fishing much then and didn't pay enough attention. Does anybody else know how to do this please?? My fading recollection is that they placed one side of a brown partridge feather in a loop or something and ended up with a wound / dubbed palmer hackle Any help appreciated, perhaps I'm at the doteing (?) stage

Ollie Edwards uses a split thread technique to do this for the legs of his shrimp pattern. A bit like a dubbing loop, but with the tips (only) of the feather within the loop. The unwanted part is cut away squarely about 2mm on the other side of the loop prior to spinning. It pays to use a soft wax on the loop when doing this, as it helps hold the fibres in position whilst handling/positioning & being cut.

Not to bad once you've done a few. You do need decent feathers though & a ball bearing type whirler helps. Longer bladed scissors can make life easier, providing they're sharp & you know how to handle them. Don't forget to make a turn of the tying thread around the neck of the loop before you start loading it. I always whip finish at this stage to get the working thread clear of the area. After winding the loop, it's just a matter of re-attaching it as normal.
