Go up to Tipp & visit Alice Conba, International Fly Dresser. Then you will see what makes for a well appointed Fly Tying Studio. Good light, good storage, good carpet, good desk & first class materials.

One of the most enjoyable bits of fly tying is just mucking about at the vise, it does not tie flies though.
The best bit of advice i got from reading something by A.K Best was to tie flies away from your "tying station" on an uncluttered desk with your scissors bobbin holder, silk and the materials for any given fly , lay out enough dubbing ,hackle and hooks etc then get down to it, otherwise you tie 3 or 4 flies then numerous variations you will never use.

How you store it is pretty personal, what has and continues to be very useful for me is these caddies that store numerous threads, wires and tinsel.

I can hold my own in the kitchen, I can even bake. (OK my cake decorating is skills suck but who is going to complain with a mouthful of good free cake.)

Depending on how keen your eyes are and how small you tie you may consider a jewelers lamp. I have been using one for 20 years now and love the view. Most come with a 4" magnifier and with the addition of a 40 watt halogen spot bulb you may find you'll like it too.

Get a good ergonomic chair and a damn good daylight lamp. This is the macdaddy:

Lighting > Hansa EasyFlex Desk Lamp with Two-jointed Arm Daylight Fluorescent

Click the image to open in full size.

And have a ton of room for storage. You are about to collect so much sh*t it's unbelievable.
