Default Flytyers Dungeon

Any one else use this US shop? Just started tying a few pike flies and couldn't justify spending £3/4 for a hank of synthetic material or flash when you need a lot of colours. I found this place on a US pike forum. Big hanks of synthetic hair - Congo hair Fly Tying Materials | Fly Tying Recipes | Fly Tying Supplies | Fly Tyers Dungeon | Fly Tying Supplies | Saltwater Fly Tying Materials (apparently very similar to EP fibres - though I've never used these). Also various flash materials - all for between $1-$1.45 a hank. I'd be interested to hear feedback from anyone else that's used their stuff.

Not tried them but I sure WCB (Toby) sells similar stuff or at least may be able to help out.

I tried their stuff and it is a good value for money. Sizable hanks of quality fibres, of nice even color. They also had very good deals for fur - I bought a HUGE piece of Elk mane for good money there.

I've bought a big batch of the stuff and it seems good but I've nothing to compare it to. Anyone know how it compares to the more expensive synthetics?

what is the purpose of finding out if one synthetic is better then the next..when it will be used to tie pike flies..there is no logic to that!!

..pike will attack anything highly colourful and shows movement! end of story..and considering it is a specialized site focused on the water wolf and it's notorious cousin the Muskellunge, among other predator fish, the price and colour is what counts, and that was what you were looking for in the first place...

..besides to answer your first question as to who used that material...that is what I use because I can not fathom spending a ton of money on making flies to be devoured by either of these exciting fish!.......AW

it can take weeks and sometimes months to receive an order in the USA. i can only imagine how long it would take to get to you.

Either buying from within the US, or receiving 'stuff' out of the UK. Even using general mail service (looking at the postal dates next to the stamps) it appears that (going either way) it can take as little as 5 business days from posting to recipient. That's pretty darned fast considering the package has gone 1/3'rd of the way around the world.
