Extremely well made vice,
Based on the best vice ever made !
I studied this vice well at the irish fly fair,
I particularly like the one with the adjustable knuckle (snowbee waldron style).
I liked that the stem has an extension for increasing the height.
The bobbin cradle is extra long which is really useful when using rotary techniques.
Great carry case.
Allot of tyers at the Irish fly fair bought one after they seen & tried the vice out.

In the High end of the market with the c&f reference, dynaking barracuda, LAW(no longer available), Renzetti Master, Marc Petitjean.........
I think the cae vice is the extremely good value at approx £350.

Couple more pics in this post

I'll have a go of Hobbles cae vice if he lets me

Henry your first post??? Your talking through your @RSE
quote Hobble

Henry welcome to the forum.
It sounds like you know what your talking about.

You will have to learn to read between the lines of the comments you recieved.
Guess who sells kit?,
And guess who bought one of those vices and wants to convince people that he hasnt actually bought a lemon?
And argues that he hasn't helped undermine the intelectual property rights of Mr Waldron by buying a obvious copy from some company claiming its their design.

At least with fake Rolex's they bother to put the original name on. These bandits didnt even have the decency to say Modeled on a Law vice, or in Homage to L.A.Waldron.

Whilst I am told that you are an authority on that which you stated of Henry....That really is no way to welcome a new member to the Forum.

He was only giving his opinion on the vice, and whilst you might disagree with that opinion, and whilst indeed Henry might be way off beam, is it really necessary to come back in such a bombastic manner?

Toby has both vices readily to hand, and can easily compare like for like, yet you don't see him jumping down some poor guys, throat just because he voices an opinion which may or may not have some substance.

In fairness, I've seen worse abuse.

Hobble has every right to refend his purchase - its a lovely vice, and if i had the spare bucks i would have bought one at the fair, although my HMH Spartan is also very good.

Its only a bit of banter lads.

Exactly what are you basing this supposition on?

It seems to me that “Henry” should be hiding under a bridge shouting at passing goats.

funkyflytying , While I dont own one of the copy vices I do have all three of the vices made by Lawerence Waldron. At the Galway fly fair I visited the CAE stand several times and examined the vice carefully. The LAW vice has been on the go for around 25 years and if you examine the vice of HANS WEILENMANN which was one of the first to be made you will notice the jaws are as new. AsK ,anyone with a law vice if they would swap it for one of these copies and see what they say OLIVER EWARDS, CHARLES JARDINE, MARVIN NOLTE,STEVE THORNTON, PAUL LITTLE ,PETER KEELEY and many more world class tiers. Not long ago on ebay a second hand law vice sold for a lot more than the price of a new vice ,why?. There is as much difference between the two, as there is between a top London sidelock shot gun and one made elsewhere . Yet they both look the same . So i will ask hobble the question asked me by funkyflytying do you own both to compare? or do you own any one of the two? . Maybe in 25 years you will find out it was you who was TALKING OUT OF YOUR ****.

Just call it female intuition.

''hiding under a bridge shouting at passing goats'' eh? ... How cryptic. You must be awfully big and clever!

Henry i have owned two of the three LAW vices and have tied on both the LAW and the CAE.
In fact the vice i have was picked up from the show so will be the one you looked at.
There is no problem with the jaws of the vice as you have stated in fact i think that the new vice is better then the LAW for small flies and i have tied down to size 24 on the new one fine.
The jaws are longer and have a finer point.
Yes LAW has the pedigree to go along with it but please don't slaughter something you have not used and only looked at at a show.
I think the LAW is slightly better finished but then it cost more when it was available but the CAE is very well made and has its own plus points like the jaws.
And i have spoken to a few world class tiers who also thought that the vice was VERY nice as well.
