Default yes, more boring vice advice requests!

hi, been done to death i know
i have a weaver lever vice and love it for smaller flies. does not hold bass and pike irons too well.
can anyone recommend a suitable vice for £150 tops. i dont need lots of bells and whistles and prefer a vice that is comfortable to rest your left hand on.
lots of vices seem to have wheels and levers where your hand rests.
oh and a clamp is best for me.
many thanks , dave

Have you thought of a Regal Vise? Graingers have them and I notice they have C Clamp ones... you might like to ask if the have the Big Game jaws which do 22 to 5/0 which should be sufficient for your needs... I am now the owner of a Regal having brought one back from the US with me and am really very pleased with it.

thanks David, had not thought of them. seem to fit my requirements. and you can get extra jaw sets though they are dear. look just like my weaver so the mrs would not spot the new purchase
not sure about the pockets in the jaws, only ever used smooth jaws.

thanks, dave

I have to agree the Dyna king vices are the best out there, A little more expensive but worth pushing out the boat for one. I find the barracuda is a fantastic bit of gear.

I think you can get an Anvil Atlas for that amount and it is a quality piece of kit.

The standard jaws on my D/K (Pro) which I bought s/hand in 1993, will take anything from a #28 up to an 8/0 salmon iron. The grip is second to none, it's tied many 1000's of flies & the jaws are like new. I did get a pair of midge jaws for it & they go down to #32's with no problem.
