Looking good.

I do mine both ways...... Wind a hackle and then fold down or tie in some hackle fibres underneath.
Depends on what's needed at the time.

Thanks guys, I've tried both ways, and turning the hook, and still get in a mess.

The cruncher is a 14, the last two, whatever they are, are 10's, bought some today from Veals, thankyou Savage and Scratch, the rest are 12's.

I tie salmon, sea trout, trout and grsayling flies.

If I haven't tied for a while I tend to start with the biggest hook I think I will need combined with the easiest pattern I need. I also tie a few of one pattern as the first couple might be iffy but the last few turn out fine.

I then move down in size and get to the difficult to tie patterns.

By that time my fingers have remembered what they should be doing and are suitably limbered up.

Very posh Mike, like them all, if it's not a daft question, on the first one, is that lead wire, and if so how have you tied it off at the bend of the hook.?

Steven, it's the wire from a Rioja bottle, in gold on the last two, that's how cheap I am. I've barely spent 20 quid on materials yet. It's tied in with the tail and body tinsel, I hope.

Cheers Mike, you're not cheap, just saving the planet.
Looks good anyway.
