Default Tungsten Beads

I'm going to have a go at some grayling this winter and need to tie up some nymphie patterns using tungsten beads but can anyone give me a rough idea of what size beads i'll need for each hook size?

If I said 3mm(ish) for a size 12 would I be far off the mark??

Cheers

Gareth.

That is spot on.

I use 3mm and 2.5mm on Kamasan grubber hooks size 14 and the proportions look good to me.

Cheers gents. Didn't think I was far off the mark but having never used tungsten before I just needed to double check.

Default Great info above.

Going to do a 'cut and paste' and print that off for my tie bench. Only thing I'd add is the shape of the bend (out to the point) can make a heck of a difference in what 'shape' hooks you'll need to use. The rounder the bend the better.

One exception I've run into (T-beads I purchased out of the UK) have a 'slot' cut into the side of the bead. These really helped open up my choice of hooks.

What a useful way to show what size bead for the size of hook. This would be handy applied to most other things like glass bead eyes, coneheads etc, as I just bought some damsel eyes thinking they would be fairly large but you need a microscope to see them and most tieing books don't give this kind of information i.e. they just seem to say 'and these are available in various sizes bla bla bla' but don't actually give you what you really need to know.
