Default LAW to retire

I have just been told that Lawrence Waldron is about to retire.
Recognised as one of the premiere designers of fly tying vices, his name is legendary amongst fly dressers world wide. Over the years he has produced reels, planing forms, vices and accessories the likes of which we will not see again. I for one will miss his superb engineering. I wish him a long and happy retirment full of memorable fishing.
Rod.

The end of an era Rod, such a shame his works of art will not be made anymore.
Whilst I don't own a LAW vice, I couldn't warrant one the way I tie, I can admire them for what they are.
I had chance to purchase a couple of his reels a little while back, and passed on them.
All the best to him.
S.

A pity that such a talented engineer is retiring. All the best to you in the future Lawrie.

Yes, this was talked about at our flytying last week. We will be sorry not to see more LAWs made.
Good to see Paul Little using one at the BFFI, as I had bought one on his recommendations.
All the best Lawrence,
Neil.

Well damn that piggy bank, it looks like I will never get to make that order.
Sad though it is he must be very proud of the reputation he has earned.
Good luck to him.

I would be careful about this rumour.
Last time I spoke to him he said that he was going to retire from his day job. He made no mention of discontinuing making his vices.

It's no rumour, I was talking to Lawrence at the BFFI, he is clearing his waiting list and that's it. IF in the future he decides to make more it will only be a couple per year.

Yes, I sent him an order for a vice with all the bells and whistles just after BFFI. Sadly, he declined to take the order and said he needs a break. Gutted that I hesitated.

Just out of interest does anyone know roughly how many of the vices were produced, I am not sure if they were individually built personally by Lawrence or not I seem to think that they have been around quite a few years now.

All the vices are hand built by Lawrie.
