The feathers are mainly used on traditional salmon flies. Would probably be best to skin it whole, if not then cut away the wings & tail. then pluck all of the smaller colourful feathers away. Separate them into types/colours/sizes, place in individual zip-top bags which are nearly sealed & micro-wave the packets for 10/20 secs each as you would or rather should with a shot or road-kill bird.
