Default CDC Clear cure goo scuds

A friend got me some clear cure goo at the BFFI last week and i have been messing around with it when i get home from work.

Your thoughts are apprecaited, i think i should try mixing some gliter in to the goo or adding some colour some how.

My thinking abou the CDC being long is that it exagerates any movement and gives the fly more life.

Well guys it was a wet and windy day today but for scientific interests i bared all to the elements and went fishing to test the Scuds for any sceptics out there.
I had a rake around in the burn and found some shrimps to compare them to. (match the hatch and all that )

I only had a limited time of about 1 hour so while taking the kids to see gran and granddad I buggered off fishing.

With all the rain the bottom loch was brimming full and the burns running in the lochs were in spate which created a nice stream in to the loch.

Great for a bit of Stillwater czech nymphing. LOL

I fished an intermediate line with two droppers both with CDC Scud goo patterns on them.
I had a ball, fish after fish, all rainbows for those who are concerned about the brownies getting any extra vocational exercise out of season.

I had 8 fish on and landed 6 all on the CDC scuds fished in the fast water.

As anyone who has fished Tinto before they will tell you these trout are not easily fooled but today the CDC scud fished amazingly well.
I shall be tying more tonight .

Brilliant Munro, some clever thinking
Does the glue add weight, thats one of the reservations i have about it. I want my scud patterns heavily weighted and fear the glue takes up too much bulk.
Whats you take on it?

Aye very good Jim.

Not a soul was fishing today, I like fishing this time of year and the more sever the weather the better.
The fish in the loch change tact and make the most of the new food supply being washed down the burns and with the extra water they can get in to areas to feed where they normaly cant reach easily.
I never caught a single brownie which i was slightly worried about.

It's great stuff Mark, very easy to work with.
you could do wonders with it.

I added a strip of lead along the back of the shrimp to increase the curve on the hook and to add a little weight.
The goo is not that bulky and saves using fidely scud back.

Buzz,

I was demoing the CC Goo at the British Fly fair last weekend, tying pink shrimps with it, using CDC and also glister dubbing for the body/legs.

The Goo adds little noticeable weight to the patterns - just a great translucency to the back of the patterns.

I was adding a thin layer to the back of the pattern, then ribbing with a pink wire, then another thin coat on top to seal in the rib, which "glowed" through that top layer.

The more I use the Goo, the more I like it!

Kind regards

Fantastic fantastic looking flies.

I was pondering getting some but had a few reservations.

Thanks for the great post.

I tried adding a rib also Phil but i need more practice to get it just right..
I was thinking of adding some gliter or finely chopped UV strands in to the Goo.
