Default deer hair skin

the laddie shot a deer last night, how difficult is it to treat this for tying. any tips would be appreciated.

I presume its a roe. If so, it's a doddle. The difficult part is removing fat and membranes from the raw skin. A sharp, heavy bladed knife is best, and determination and elbow grease. Stretch it and pin it out. Air drying is best, with a bit of borax. Salt makes the skin stiff and unpliable.

There is a new series coming on national geographic called great migrations,the first episode features all the roe deer moving from your area,over to the west coast

I wouldn't bother with all that preserving hastle if I were you. Just sit down and tie up a batch of muddlers, it will be all gone before it has any chance of getting stinky

clean the hair in warm water and a non bleach carpet detergant after youv scraped the fat off, ..comes out crackin mate you dont want to cure it and dry it only to wash it
