Default Davy McPhail on You tube

A few new videos on here, including these,
YouTube - Tying a Fry Pattern with Davie McPhail
He uses the new Bug Bond to good effect in both of these videos.

Mr D McPhail is in my opinion in the top 10 fly tyers in the world, the ****** makes it look simple! His proportions are spot on every time regardless of which thread he picks for the chosen pattern....GAC have open days with celebrities from the world of fishing TV etc appear to make £. The reality is, there is only one star of the show and that is Davie. He is a superstar in the fly fishing world! Heres to you Davie

As you say a great tyer.
Seen him working in the flesh a good few times and it still amazes me the amount of materials he can get onto a hook.
First Class.

Not convinced at all on that pattern maharg, looks like a juvenille fish to us...these trout have different ideas though! Im still waiting for a the ultimate fry pattern. As has been said before..you can come up with a super realistic pattern and its totally ignored! Be it a hot melt glue replica or a poly-stickle. They just don't seem to cut it... booby patterns and humungus are on there way to duping them but there's still a piece of the jigsaw missing. Good tying though, huh!

What i admire about Davie's vids is that no matter how many decades you have been tying, you can always learn something new and helpful. His tuition is very informative, precise and clearly illustrated.
There are hundreds of tying demos on Youtube, but none can match the insight, dexterity, wide range of techniques, visual clarity and attention to detail that Davy conveys in such a "you can do it" way.
Personally, after tying my first fly in 1962 age 11, then doing it all by books/mags, with no mentor, but doing OK, Davie's vids have helped me improve my tying immensely.

I love this guy, his tying is great! I haven“t have anyone to teach my how to tie flies and when I started to tie flies I always watched his videos and then tried to repeat it, so he was kind of my flytying teacher
So cheers to Davie
