Default International rule on hooks

Hi Guys

Does anyone know if a Fulling Mill short shank size 6 hook comply with competition hook size??

I tried to measure one to a Wychwood competition fly box and it comes pretty darn close. Would it officially pass??

I have had to tweak the eye with a pair of pliers to get the overall hook size to measure. To be honest if you don't tweak them they won't comply...close but not close enough

It is a fraction over the legal length, sufficiently obvious to make it unlikely to pass if examined properly. Some do bend the eye down to make it fit.

On the rare occasions that flies are checked, they don't just glance at them... they use a guage - the hook has to fit inside the guage. 'Close' isn't good enough.

Many thanks guys

I have been quite busy tying the usual and was hoping I wouldn't have to start from scratch.
