My answer to this question is "What do you want to get out of it?

If you want to buy fly tying materials, rods, reels, clothing etc, etc, then yes, there are loads of suppliers. Prices can be very good too.

If you want to watch the top tiers doing their stuff then yes, there are many accomplished tiers from all over the world on fly tiers row.
If you want help with a fly tying or casting problem, that's all there too.
If you want to attend talks by international anglers, watch demonstrations of casting , support good causes, mingle with like minded people etc etc they are all there.
I think this show is superb value and you should go for both days if you want to see everything, If your a tier, stop and talk to the tiers on the top row, they will all happily give you their time and explain what they are doing.

This year will be my 5th in a row and If I had to give up all the shows but one then the BFFI would be the one I'd keep.

Hope this encourages you to attend. If you do, pop by and say hello and let me know if it lives up to my billing.

Regards

Totally agree with Chris's comments Andy, one day is enough for me though, it's smaller than you think.
I am there on the Saturday with Buzz, so make yourself known if you do go.
Hope to see you there.

I think its an essential part of the year especialy if you tie flies. It is so much better that the CLA for fly fishing. Venue is really easy to get to and loads of parking.
It is also the last year there, so goodness knows what it will be like in future, depends on the venue I guess, Next year is going to be in July from what i have heard, right in mid season..

Buzz doesn't go anywhere without cake.

To answer Poms' question regarding the future of the BFFI. We really have no option but relocate the show and will do our utmost to maintain its integrity.

Below is a press release for next years event giving the facts - just to nip any rumours in the bud. Many thanks Steve Cooper

British Fly Fair International 2011 will be held at Staffordshire County Showground on 18th and 19th of June 2011.

Due to the removal of the Events Marquee at the Trentham Estate and other logistical problems associated with the site, it will not be viable to hold BFFI at its usual location after this years show.

We have managed to secure a booking for next years BFFI at Staffordshire County Showground. This is a well established events venue which is located close to Junction 14 of the M6 at Stafford. It boasts permanent buildings, with all the features you would expect of this type of venue such as announcement systems, built in heating and lighting, full disabled access, ample parking, toilets within the exhibition halls and an on site eating areas.

Due to the venues previous commitments we have no choice but to change the timing of the show but feel the June date will have several advantages over the previous late autumn slot. These include more hours of daylight and better weather making it easier to travel to and from the show and making the outdoor demonstrations more pleasant to attend.

As always we will be hosting a full range of quality invited trade stands, theatre demonstrations and most importantly our unequalled International Fly tying Rows. The new venue will allow us to include wider aisles between the trade stands to make movement around the show a little more comfortable.

To find out more information about the new venue visit Welcome To Staffordshire County Showground for a virtual tour. The BFFI will be housed in the Prestwood and Argyle Centres. For those who are interested in antiques a Giant Antiques Fair will be running on the site at the same time as BFFI in the sites Bingley Hall.

The entrance charge to BFFI will remain unchanged by the move.

We feel that this move will considerably improve the facilities we can offer at the show and will hopefully further increase the profile of what we consider a unique event. To keep abreast of further developments visit British Fly Fair International

Thank you for your continued support

Steve and Bridgette Cooper and the BFFI Team

Thanks for clearing that up. I dont know how others feel, But BFFI is alway's a lovely little distraction from the evenings drawing in and the end of the season.( it makes close season almost bareable).
I for one hope you can secure an early Nov slot again. Good look with it I'm sure it will be great wherever you slot it in to the calender.
