Default Fulling Mill 31180 All Purpose Light Hooks

Hi Folks,

I have some of these hooks - Fulling Mill 31180 All Purpose Light Hooks. They look just the biz for wee dries and that in the sizes that I have (18 and 20) but I am a wee bit concerned that they are too long in the shank and small in the gape to offer a good hook-up. Has anyone got actual experience of them to say yay or nay to their effectiveness in this regard.

Wouldn't really want to bin them but not much point tying up a load of flies on them to find I have wasted my time and even more of our Earth's precious resources . . . .

Thanks in advance for your thoughts,

Andy

I find Fulling Mill hooks to be very good in all weights and use them most of the time for wets, dries and nymphs. No problems experienced using the all purpose light for dries, despite being light they seem to be strong enough. Took a 3lb blue trout that took off like a rocket on a size 14 dry tied on a Fulling Mill all purpose light, the hook was fine although the dressing was mangled (F fly pattern with CDC wing wrecked.)
