Default Alternative barbless pattern

I has struggled to get a size of small barbless pattern - Tiemco or Varivas pattern (ca't recall the number off hand), I wanted some small sizes for micro-nymphs for duo rig. Today I spotted these in a local tackle shop:

Straight eyed (coarse fishing pattern, but no problem), but similar profile, nice wide gape and swept, curved barbless point, also look pretty strong. Cheap too. Got some size 18's which look just the job for what I had in mind

they havnt got much of a shank to tye on even for small nymphs..
but there definately strongh enough, iv caught 8lb carp on these in a size 20
and managed 28.4lb carp on a size 14, the drag was set to perfection
only downside.. the points do dull quick, i tend to change after a couple of fish

Shank length ok for what I want, but I'll keep an eye on the points, thanks. Their standard barbless has a slightly longer shank. I've used the Kamasan Animal patterns a lot for carp and chub, which is a similar profile, but silver and a bit heavier guage wire - didn't fancy the silver colour for this purpose though.

the teflon colour of b911 are alot better and in my case stronger than the animal hooks, i had a 4lb carp open one up just before netting and quite a few big ones straighten them like pins youd think they'd be stronger as there thicker wire shame they dont do the b711 in eyed..

Another alternative hook would be the Partridge Surehold barbless, available in small sizes. I've used them for dries as well as small nymphs this season and had no trouble with them.

Funny you should say that shuck raider - I bought some of those in a 14 for dries (sedge) last week. Was a bit hesitant as I've had Partridge flashpoints open up on me before and I know others have had that problem too, we'll see.

emerger - yes, I agree, the dark/teflon colour is much better than those shiny silver animal versions! weird choice of colour that....

I love these hooks, and use them a lot for curved body, bead head river nymphs, tiny miracle nymphs and small buzzers. They would be good for detached body dries too.
I get them from my local coarse/sea shop, 99p for 10. They ARE strong as emerger1981 has said.
