Default Seeking Advice : Flies for Autumn

Hi,

I was hoping someone might be able to provide some advice on what the generaly accepted good fly patterns are for the autumn months. Do you have a particular pattern that works well and what if any is the general rule of thumb when selecting flies for this time of year?

Thanks in advance.

In which case i'd be looking at two areas, Dry flies and Fry patterns

I'd want:-

Daddy longlegs, (wet and dry) in sizes 10 and 12
Hoppers in claret, orange and fiery brown sizes 12 and 14
Small Black, silver and "wooftah" boobies in sizes 12 and 14
Black gnats 12 and 14
Shuttlecocks colours as for hoppers
and finally some CDC F flies in sizes 12 down to an 18

For the Fry patterns,

Floating Fry, plastazote foam sizes from 12 to along shank 8
Floating Fry, Deer hair
Floating Fry, Mylar covered foam.
Booby Minkie as big as possible

Humungus L/s 10
Bead chain cats whisker L/s 10
Minkie in brown and white L/s 10

I hope that's useful

Cheers

Chris,

Many many thanks for this advice. Now it's off to find some instructions on how to tie some of these patterns.....
