Spider is on a distinguished road
Default Balloon caddis

Am trying to tie one of these to test before the season ends in 2 days time.

Have finished it , dimensions are fine i think ( i have tied it with a cdc body, a la the CDC and elk ) but the yellow thorax isnt 100% secure and rolls a small bit, although not that badly.

I used a bit of superglue to tie it in.....

Is a small bit of rotation ok on this fly ....its seems ok to me....i hope to use it on a dropper, with a nymph on the point, like the duo ( but not suspended from the hook bend ) .

Tks all........

Spider at a guess try this solution ( though it could be just down to too much bulk).
When you pull the wrap of thread over the foam and down, keep bringing the Bobbin round untill its level with you, and then put the tension on, You will find it stops slipping round.
Not sure why you need superglue on this, it really isnt needed.

Apply more tension to the thread at all stages or tying, you may need to "tweek" your bobbin holder a bit. Use a different thread if you are tying with UTC 70/140 as the amount of point pressure is low compared to other threads which don't flatten as much & have a less sheer finish.

Won't deer hair spin like hell on a dropper?

We seek for slumbering trout
And whispering in their ears
Give them unquiet dreams;
Leaning softly out
From ferns that drop their tears
Over the young streams.
Come away, O human child!
To the waters and the wild
With a faery, hand in hand,
For the world's more full of weeping than you can understand.
