Default Mayflys

I'm going to have some mayflys made up by a good friend. What hooks should I go for? I expect a variety of sizes would be advisable and barbless, but I need the idiots guide so make and model would be useful. Happy to pay a bit for the hooks.

Thanks

TP

P.S. Any good pattern pictures would be useful too.

This one is now my "go to" pattern during Mayfly time.

CDC & Elk does make a good Mayfly in larger sizes. It's a fantastic fly all year in different sizes - easy to tie as well.

But Dennis, m'man, that fly nowhere near resembles an E. Danica or E. Vulgata. It could not possibly work...

Here is Roy Christie's variation called BOM ('Big Ol' Mayfly') CDC&Elk

Now we are getting closer, no?

Stop messing about Dennis and give those Avon stockies what they like.

If you want an out and out Mayfly then Oliver Edwards Mohican Mayfly is a good one:

Ian,

Somehow I think the OE Mohican May kinda fails the "sweeper driver" simple flies approach

Ok Hadn't spotted that it must be simple - very pretty flies though and he does do a video

I'm just making up a batch for myself at the moment - they get easier and better with practice.
