Thumbs up Its Here!! Asso Super Fluorocarbon from Grommit and Sunkistbob

Grommit (Game Fishing Supplies) and Sunkistbob (SKB Tackle) share a common philosophy when it comes to fishing tackle; we only stock something we would be happy to use ourselves and matches, or even better, exceeds our expectations.

For a long time now, we have been searching for a top grade fluorocarbon line that we can match against the Riverge’s and Rio’s of the tippet World.

Over the last few months we have been testing a new line to see if it to see if it meets our expectations. Testing has been carried out by Sunkistbob, Grommit and some members of this forum (who I am sure will add their comments to this thread!) at various waters and in varying conditions and we have to admit that this fluorocarbon did not achieve our expectations – it smashed them!

In fact, our testers were so impressed with this new line that they are now ditching their more expensive fluorocarbons in favour of this new fluorocarbon!
What is this new line? It is simply called Asso Super Fluorocarbon

Click the image to open in full size.

Asso Super Fluorocarbon is the latest evolution in fluorocarbon technology. Thanks to a new PVDF copolymer and a state of the art advanced extrusion process, Asso has produced a high tenacity and smooth line equal to best quality nylons available.

Asso is made in Japan where the best Fluorocarbon lines are manufactured

This new ’Super Fluorocarbon’ is both soft, durable as nylon, and its controlled stretch gives you higher knot strength and ’shock impact’ resistance that will add confidence when playing fish whatever the breaking strength

As a comparison, we noted that Fulling Mill Fluorocarbon 0.22mm line is 6lb breaking strain, and the Red X Fluorocarbon 6lb is a 0.21mm diameter. At over 2lb stronger in the 0.21mm line, this Asso line gives you higher strength to diameter ratio, meaning less snap offs and less lost fish.

The diameters of Asso Super Fluorocarbon are also comparable against the leading Riverge and Rio fluorocarbons, as shown below

Riverge 0.21mm line comes in at 9.5lb
Rio Fluoroflex 0.20mm line comes in at 8.5lb
The Asso Super Fluoro 0.21 line comes in at 8.3lb

Asso Super Fluorocarbon is also cheaper than most 30 yard spools of thse leading brands and a spool contains nearly double the length at 55yards! A huge cost saving without sacrificing quality

We currently have the following breaking strains available

4.6lb (2.10kg) Diam 0.15mm
5.7lb (2.60kg) Diam 0.17mm
6.8lb (3.10kg) Diam 0.19mm
8.3lb (3.80kg) Diam 0.21mm
9.4lb (4.30kg) Diam 0.23mm

RRP Of these breaking strains is £9.99 per spool
Forum Offer Price Only £7.50 per spool

We also have the following higher breaking strains in stock, ideal for the salmon angler

11.6lb (5.30kg) Diam 0.25mm
13.2lb (6.00kg) Diam 0.28mm
15.2lb (6.90kg) Diam 0.30mm

RRP Of these breaking strains is £13.99 per spool
Forum Offer Price Only £9.00 per spool

We currently have stock of all of the listed breaking strains, all on 50m (55 yard) spools

ALL PRICES INCLUDE 1st CLASS UK DELIVERY

These prices are NOT available on our websites or in store and can only be order via PM to Grommit

PayPal, credit/debit card, cheque/PO and cash all accepted

OK great sales job, was about to order some Spiderwire but have now placed an order for a couple of spools of this. If all goes according to plan I should get an opportunity to give it a whirl tomorrow afternoon... fingers crossed.

I have been testing this for the guys over the last couple of months and am very impressed with it.

As they say above, I am ditching Riverge and Orvis Mirage for this and will be using it in the upcoming Lexus Individual Final, the English National Loch Style Final and the Greys National Bank Individual and Team Finals - that is how confident I am in it.

Will put a full review in the Tackle Reviews section.

Spools arrived this morning, lightning fast delivery as usual Looking forward to trying it in an hour or two. Love the plastic boxes it comes in, good solid and easy storage, perfect.

Thank you, Andrew.

Default "Asso Asso Yogoshi; Me Welsh-speaking Japanee"

"Asso Asso Yogoshi; Me Welsh-speaking Japanee" is a Rugby song celebrating the first Japanese tour, when they were thrashed fifty something - nil. Great name choice.

I took a spool to Christmas Island and it stood up well to the Bonefish out there

Hey Charlie, I think Chris used the 0.30 or 0.35mm

Hey Andrew

The nice thing about the plastic casing is that the lines are stored nice and safe and the lines cant get nicked or damaged when in your fishing bag

Enjoy them

Ben
