Bison Neoprene Waders
Bison Neoprene Waders
Inexpensive, look ok, work well.

Default Bison Neoprene Waders

My old Scierra breathables are on their last legs - nine seasons old so I can't complain - and since I'm going to be doing more Autumn fishing I decided on neoprene as a replacement.

After looking at various brands and reading the Bison breathable review here I decided to try the £44.00 Bison neoprenes (£52.00 with postage). They are available from the same source as the breathables, in a choice of cleated or felt sole. The felt sole comes with a packet of studs, and the usual wader puncture repair kit is included.

They arrived the day after I ordered them - goods as advertised, so a great start.
The waders are brown and have generous shoulder straps which are held in place by velcro. They have a decent front pocket which also has a good velcro closing.
The knees are both reinforced with an extra layer of neoprene.
The waders fit well, no sags or bulges where there shouldn't be.
The 5mm neoprene looks to be much the same quality as found on neoprene waders costing way over £100. The stitching and seams look fine. The boots, which are neoprene-lined, look like ordinary wader boots, with normal thickness felt soles.

In use.
Too warm for day-wear at the moment, but ok at 5.30 am
when I was out fishing yesterday.
They are fine. Easy to get on and off, waterproof, the front pouch works, and they dried ok.

+points.
Inexpensive pair of waders which look ok and work well.

Good service from the seller.

-points.
The boots do not offer much support. I would imagine that this is easily correctable however, with a pair formed insoles
as sold in running and sports shops.

There are some small glue marks on my waders. You have to look for them, but they are present.

No D-rings, zinger attachments or zip down the front (no worries if your bladder is in good nick, since it only takes a couple of secs to undo the shoulder velcro straps).

All in all a great value product. Please note that although I've given the product a "10" rating for performance this does not include longevity, since I've only had them a couple of days. Perhaps someone else who has worn these for a season or two could chip in here?

i also bought a pair of these back in april everything seems intact with them havent had the chance to use them much as its been abit warm used them as soon as i got them and was roasted in them for the price i think they are as good a quaility as the more expensive neo's out there. personally i wouldnt worry about the glue marks who's gonna see then when your stood in the water if they keep the water out and keep you warm then to me thats what counts.

Hi,

The boots are plastic rather than rubber, but work very well.
They are not too flexible, but in my review I flagged up that they didn't offer much support - actually after wearing them for a few months I can revise that and say they are suprisingly comfortable for standing and walking (which is normal in all respects).

I would buy a boot size larger than you normally wear.

If anything these waders have exceeded my expectations.
