Default Echo ed distance 6wt fly rod review

The echo ed 6 wt is a great "little" rod throws a very good 7 line on it.

The above statement sums up the rod in a nut shell but let me explain more. I have the echo 8wt and while its a distance machine (you have to work it) the little brother the 6 wt is a lovely rod to cast and fish with. (there is only a few grams difference in rod weight between the 8 and 6). I would rate the rod as a 6 3/4quarters its ment to throw a 6 line in a casting comp a long way but as general fishermen dont spend all that time double hauling ,a 7 wt loads the rod and fires out the line in 3-4 flicks. The rod action is mid-tip. Its now my dry fly rod of choice and throws 7wt orginal ridge line fine. It has a great feel about casting this rod and loads very easily and provided you keep within the rods "powerband" it will perform flawlessly. The tip of the rod is flexable (more so then normal rods trying to describe its action here) and leader turnover is very good. i suffer with other rods actions so i found that my dry flies present better ie in a straight line fish 3 drys (more so than with other rods i have used). The great thing about this rod is that is light, and a breeze to use all day so its like using a 6 wt rod but with the power of 7 wt if u need to get to a crusing trout some distance away. It will cast sinking lines as well easily enough too.The rod just feels light and its a 10ft as well.

I always think what could i do if i had designed the rod to make it better, in this case there wasnt alot i could think of except put on a bigger tip ring. There arent any cons about this rod. People say that build quality on the echos is not that good but frankly i disagree , the handle is one of the best i have used, rod is 4 piece travels well, rod tube etc is all of a good standard.

Final note the rod is definitely not a full blown 7wt, it says so on the label but its a very powerful 6 with great casting characteristics. Very enjoyable rod to fish with.

Has this been submitted by a pro or an amateur booster ?

I can't tell . It strikes me that somebody competent ought to go rate the rods for these types - a review like this one can only be confusing to ordinary fly fishermen .

Sorry to carp but I have been professionally rating for 28 years for Shakespeare/Pure Fishing and even I find this one confusing !

Best wishes

Steve, the magazines killed the credibility of the professional in regard to rod 'tests'
in life we are faced with many differing opinions, we digest them all and come to our own conclusions, such is life unregulated by marketing.
in a business saturated with expert advice attatched to financial gain unbiast reviews are valuable,

I could have submitted a review saying "good rod" or "bad rod".
The fact is I wanted to give fisherman some idea of what the rod is to fish with and how it casts, in my case i liked the rod its fishes well.

As far as marketing is concerned we all make a choice on products based on what we read or try out. Amazon is a classic example there are loads of reviews by users on all kinds of products good and bad, not written by "experts". I certainly dont claim to be one , but i do fish alot and have an interest in my fishing tackle.
