York of Norfolk Wooden Scoop Net
York of Norfolk Wooden Scoop Net

Default York of Norfolk Wooden Scoop Net

I can't really write a long review about a landing net but i'll do my best to highlight the main points.

To start with the net costs only £7.99 at York of Norfolk. No matter what way you look at it, this is a fantastic price for a scoop net. Compare that to Hardy's scoop net and it is 7 times cheaper!

The finish seems to be variable as I purchased two of these nets and on one of the handles the wood was discoloured, however, this will not affect performance in the slightest.

I thought at such a cheap price that the net may have been compromised quality but it seems a good strong net, i tested it with some heavy objects and there was no sign of strain so holding a good sized fish should be no problem at all. The mesh itself is a nice small holed mesh which looks excellent for catch and release.

In my opinion anybody looking for a scoop net could do a lot worse than buying one of these. At £7.99 it is an absolute steal and will serve you well.

I have one of these myself and think it is excellent. I got a nice magnetic release off eBay for less than a tenner delivered, so for ~£20 I now have a lovely wooden scoop net hanging from my back at all times. Handy thing to have especially when wading!

Ordered one for my Dad after reading this and one of the magnetic net holders too, he's really pleased with it, so thanks for the heads up!

Great value and service. I just can't see how the other companies charge £15plus for what I would imagine to be the same net!!!

I did buy one of these, and thought it great value for money.
However after only a couple of uses I noticed the end farthest from the handle was showing signs of delaminating, a slight split in other words.
I told the company about it and next morning a replacement arrived in the post FOC and they didn't want the old one back.
So all in all a good company.
I have since moved them on and now have a lovely Hardy Marksman one, which I bought from a forum member on here, at a good price.
It has to be said it is a different beast altogether, the burl wood handle is beautiful, and it just feels and looks top notch. It's the tackle tart in me I'm afraid.
I have another made by the New Zealand Anglers Experience, and that has proved to be a very strong little net also.
