At last range of clothing that is breathable and waterproof, yet won't break the bank.
Having just bought the
Airflo Hydrotec Jacket, I was also in the market for a new bib and brace, to replace my ageing Scierra Aquatex.
First thing you notice is that these are not a true bib and brace, rather a pair of high waist
trousers.
Dealing with the inside first. A good mesh lining covering the top two thirds, with a nylon lower portion sealed with a Velcro strip and stud fastner. An interesting feature on this piece of fishing clothing, is that the lining is slightly longer that the outer material. This allows for bending an kneeling reducing ride up on the lining.
The outer starting from the bottom. Zipped leg flap sealed with a Velcro tab that doesn't snag line at your feet. A thigh pocket on the left leg only with a flap cover and two front hip height pockets sealed with waterproof zips. Zip front closure with double stud fastners at the waist.
A sturdy belt with a snap lock feature and wide belt loops finishing with detachable braces.
The small amount of material on the waist at the back, just covers you lower lumbar area. Plus there are reinforced areas on the seat and the knees, which is a nice idea.
Being both wind and waterproof is what I really wanted, but most of all they had to be breathable and these are. A quality piece of kit that will protect you from the elements.
