Default asso flurocarbon

Called in at Ians shop at Morpeth,i thought i would give the Asso flurocarbon a try.Had 10 days fishing on the scottish borders used the 15mm all of the time, for dries and nymphing, used teams of 2 and 3 flies, i had no trouble with wind knots and it was blowing a bit,no breakages good knot strength [plenty of spit] to be honest i just could not find fault with it.I have tried most leader material that is on the market and Asso is as good if not slightly better than the stuff that costs an arm and and a leg,put it this way on the way back home today i called in for another 2 spools of it.

Why are they called wind knots when they've got nothing to do with the wind?

They should be called "Sh1te casting knots"

I've been using the .23 Asso the last couple of outings and rate it very highly. I'll probably only use it as a substitute for Mirage in crystal clear water and carry on with Sightfree Platinum 10lb for most other applications, as it's stiffer and results in fewer "Sh1te casting knots" when fishing a team of 4.

I concur with the knotting. I was on Loch Leven Friday aft/eve with 20-30mph winds and a 20ft+ leader, 2 droppers of around 8" and only one wind knot on the bottom dropper, which came out easily.
I've just ordered another 2 spools of it from Ian.

Martin, perhaps albeit this one is made in Japan.

Many others are made in China.

The best come out of |China but, whilst I know that Riverge is made in the Kureha factory, I dont think this one is but defo made in Japan

Been using asso for a few months now ,had a few fish on it but until today at Hannigfeild I was able to give it a real good work out on some well grown on lumps .
leaning very hard into fish all of which were well mended and rather fit no breaks ,yes a few hookholds failed ,but that was the hook up rather than the Assso .
I am sold on it as a dam good fluro ,watch this space for a few words on using it for autumn salmon .
Ben thanks for alerting me to the floating line match and Loopy (Chris) thanks for being an excellent boat partner .

Never been a FC fan as I saw no better results than when using straight Maxima. Ian put the ASSO material up on the board and I did a 'what the heck-why not' and ordered up 4 spools. Even with my two handers I'm using furled leaders (sink and float) and a bit of this off the tippet ring.

The number of hook-ups on summer run Steelhead jumped by 100++ per cent. Had two fish literally hit the fly so hard it ripped the fly off of the 6# material! Up using the 11# now. That did the trick.
