Great to dip into - quote - 'The pleasures of fishing are chiefly to be found in rivers, lakes and tackle-shops.....'

Default Picked this book up on Wednesday.......

Rod and line, by Arthur Ransome, Oxford University Press.

I'm not sure if this is still in print - my copy was second-hand and cost me £4.00. What a great little book. The articles are short, punchy and witty, and very well written, as you would expect from a journalist of Ransome's calibre.

His passion for fishing shines through, and the fact that these articles were written nearly 100 years ago doesn't really date them. Most of what he says is still true today.

Thoroughly recommended

Brilliant book. Great fun to read.

Was going to ask why this wasn't posted in the literature section - but it doesn't matter.

One of my all time favourite books. Keep finding myself thinking back to some of his lines from this book when on the riverbank.

In my opinion his other fishing books I've read ('mainly about fishing' and that compilation of writings done by Jeermy Swift) are nowhere near as good but still worth a go. I'd recommend watching the DVD. Its really great and pretty cheap on ebay.
