Default Airflo Rangfinder wf8

Airflo Rangfinder wf8,

Yes i know the wf7 has been reviewed the 8 has not and if people were thinking of getting either one or the other this will help people decide ie if they have a 7wt rod or 8wt rod.

I got this line mainly for my bank fishing but also thought i could try it off a boat. First impression the front head part is a lovely optic green and quite thick which i like think it helps keep shape in the air when casting. Airflo mention the line is stiffer, in my opinion i found the head to be very supple and flexible and is a really a joy to fig8 back lies flat on the water for buzzer work.

Casting on a loomis wt7 rod (as thought i could get away with a 8 line on it and certainly cast other 8 floaters fine). however the rangefinder in hind sight i think the wf7 would be better as the 8 is a tade too heavy. Does it work on 7 yes it does. Kind of like casting a train slow to get up to speed but once you get the momentum going takes some stopping , it really does fly out. Persentation on leader turn over is very good. Think this is due to longer running front line to transmitt power off the main belly into the leader. The small drawback is that the top line gets pulled down under the water quite easily with long flourcarbon leader. ( a small thing but worth mentioning). Off a boat i found that just using the green head with a few turns of grey running line off the reel worked best for repeated casting.

Using it the wf8 on 10 8wt rod off the bank it does cast a long way and certianly presentation is way better than the 40+. In waders lower down in the water i struggled a bit to keep the line aeralised high enough off the water to fish comfortably but time will tell if the line will stay a favourite or not.

Overall the line is harder to work than a normal line but then its advertised as a distance line and thats what it delivers.
