The question I ask myself is ... how can someone sit and tie 200 flies and sell them in a box for £35? Surely the idea of a sale is to make money? That suggests to me the flies are mass tied by third world peasants, paid a pittance, working long hours in some far eastern sweat shop. Anyone can practice and mimic something else, even blackbirds can mimic, so it's not too hard for someone, who doesn't understand what the flies are meant to look like, or meant to be used for, to tie a fly that looks right. In my experience the tier doesn't understand that the fly will become sodden wet and will be fired backwards and forwards through the air at great speeds, therefore they don't have the understanding of why the flies not only need look like they do, but have to be tied securely, and in my experience the cheap flies fall apart.
