you might want to have a look at pikeflyrod.com they sell the pikesabre its a 10wt for £180 i think.

Also it depends on how much you want to spend as the sage rods in 10wt are good bits of kit but they are expensive. I suppose you get what you pay for.

I use a 9ft 9wt TFO Pro for pike.
The action is perfect for big bulky flies and costs around 130 pounds.

I use a Sage XP 9' 9wt usually with a 10 line for pike , may be a bit pricey for a beginner , but there are some good rods at low prices here :-Tacklebargains.co.uk Single Handed # 9 - 10 Weight Rods
I imagine the Lefty Kreh would be a good rod, a fisherman of his standing would not lend his name to rubbish
p.s . IMO you don't need the extra grip

The Pike Sabre rod is well recommended.

Bromandell also do a 10wt under their Esox Lucius brand.

Harrison do a very nice 9/10wt blank if you can find one.

I would avoid an 'extra grip' as you call it. On a 10 wt that might help you break the rod....Some experienced saltwater anglers even dont like them on 12 weights.

Hope this helps.

You might like to consider http://http://www.tacklebargains.co...._Save_40_.html I was under the impression that this rod is the same blank as the TFO... Oh and in the saltwater section there is mention of a Harrison 9/10 that'll be up for sale soon... (I have a Harrison 9/10 tis good)
