Default Chub, Perch, Roach and Dace...

Had a nice varied day on the river today, just fished for whatever came along. Was nice to get some tidy Chub but this fella stole the show

More pics and story on the Blog, cheers,

Graham

Hi Graham,

What a glorious fish! And one of many as your equally glorious blog explains..

Just one smalll request... Go fishing more often!

That way we'd all be able to be jealous more often!

Really must break the rod out more regularly and get in on the action...

Sounds like a great days fishing

I agree about the rain , it is the same story all over at the moment . We could do with a week of heavy rain really .

That Perch is a stonker !!

Lovely post (and blog) Graham.

I had a similar day to yours - 4 a.m. start and casting all morning long to pike and chub, although your perch is a stonker! I should try tying a beetle though, as I got a shedload of rejections from the chub today, and only succeeded eventually with very small sedges and black gnats. How large do you tie it?

Alan

Superb as always Graham, I often fish for chub on the fly in Lancashire, and dace, what great sport they are.
Fabulous Perch that as well.
Steven.

Cheers lads, twas a great day on the river, is there ever a bad one?

Toady2, The beetle i tie is on a long shank 8's, tie in some black bucktail so it hangs reaward of the bend and work your thread to the bend, dub some black antron or possum forward a little, tie in a couple of rubber legs, fold the bucktail forward and over the dubbing creating the first of three segments, dub past the legs and repeat the tying the bucktail down creating another segment before tying down behind the eye and trimming off.

Hope this makes sense, it's lunchtime and i'm rushing lol!

Cheers,

Graham
