Graham, there must be something about black bucktail which the chub seem to love. I didn't quite get to tying a black beetle (hooks too small), but tied a black sedge pattern with a peacock herl underbody and it was a hit on the Mole yesterday. All sport disappeared after I managed to feed it to the trees
