Default Forth & Clyde Canal - Pike fishing

Does anyone have experience flyfishing on the Forth & Clyde canal for Pike or perch? Its near my work in Falkirk and I would like to give it a go. I live in central Scotland and have flyfished Loch Achray for pike before - any other good waters I could try would be appreciated!

cheers!

hi shifty, welcome to the forum,i have fly fished the 'nolly' as it is known round about here. best pike about 8lb's.as you know folk are not keen to give locations away regarding pike(overexploitation) but if you fish between wyndford and auchenstarry you'll be fishing over pike.

practically any section on the F@C has pike. Of course some bits are better than others. Avoid areas where the tubes fish as they ruin it. Don't forget the margins, I have spin fished/wobbled baits and a lot of takes come close in. An obvious feature is the "drop off" where it gets deeper.

I've had a couple on the fly at the f&c and would agree with Kreid and Jim's advice. It's best to fish it with a partner because personal safety isn't guaranteed.

Yes, you can kick them in the soft regions rendering them immobile and an easy target whilst you make a quick getaway
