Fishing a lake in the Lake District a few years ago, I watched some swallows drinking on the only smooth water in a lagoon off the main lake (great pike spot). The sheltered water was right in next to the bank. About 20 birds came in, drank from the same spot one after the other... you guessed it... boom! Huge explosion of water, massive swirl. Swallows all took to the air twittering excitedly. Not sure if the pike got a meal, but he had a good go. Probably a fish around 10lb I'd guess. I'd seen a few very big pike in there, not big enough to eat a cygnet in one go.
Are you sure you want to come face to face with that fish Gardenolive? haha My best fish (20lb pike) gave me the willies when it cruised past my canoe. 40lb+ - that's a proper crocodile!

Default Not with Pike ...

But I've 'witnessed' Large Mouth Bass take out a couple of baby Ducks. Mother Duck at head of line, with 'family' following along in a line behind ....... 5+ Mom ... then 4+Mom.

If I hadn't been actually watching them swim by I'd never have seen a thing. Now he's there, now he's gone, blink of an eye sort of thing.

Earlier in the summer, while fishing for big tench using fake red maggots on a semi-fixed rig, I caught one pike, was bitten off several times and missed more than one run that was almost certainly from pike. Weird behaviour.
