Silly season special - another slow day on the Newsdesk !

Loved Mr Plum's comment as to how it took off 500 yards of line on the first run ! Not bad for a 14 inch fish of any kind !

Is he Mr Cherry's successor?

Where has Gordon Brown gone? Swimming in Kentish Ponds I could hope .....

We should be told !!!

Yours Mysteriously

very well said... I look forward to the day that a fish of 1 1/4 lb takes 500 yds of line... truly a mythical beast!

you need something like this

MySpace - Got Hooks? - 100 - Male - CHARLESTON, South Carolina - myspace.com/gothx69

you may get plagued by "jaws" but it will rip 500 yds of line off

I saw this article and laughed out loud. It was similar to the one not so long back about that snakehead that was caught in a canal or river.

Anybody (including the newspaper) with access to Google could have worked out the facts that an Amazonian fish such as a red-bellied piranha would very shortly die of cold in any of our waters, regardless of the time of year so the hysterical outpourings about infestation are well wide of the mark.

The angler in question was quite obviously taking the **** with his report of the amount of line taken and length of fight by something equivalent in size to newly stocked rainbow. I suspect, as others have already stated, that he was jokingly seeing just how much **** he could get the paper to print.

Well done that man.
