Cracking roach pics, the wee silver beauties I catch in my local river never stay still long enough to get a decent pic. Sadly no trout (yet...) but I do enjoy catching small roach and chub on PTNs and hares ears when the local trout waters switch off for the summer. Had a few this size and a couple of half lb chub on Monday. Fish were hitting the nymphs as soon as they hit the water, made for difficult striking.

Yeah these are Irish Roach and therefore a bit "sleepy" Seriously though you are right they do not pose well . I end up with a lot of shots like the one below

I have the camera ready in my pocket , I grab the fish with one hand holding it under the water as I start the camera up with the other . Then lift fish out , open hand and click , sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't . I often go for the pic before unhooking but if they jump away as I take the pic they are often off the hook and gone

Cheers , yeah there are some right beauties in there . I have seen some 3 times that size but yet to catch them . I don't really fish for them for size anyway . It is just good fun trying to be fast enough to hook these wickedly fast fish !! Is a pleasure to look at them also , as you say they are mint , straight from the mould ...............

That's probably one of the best looking Roach I've ever seen, and I've seen a lot.

The tail is huge!

Over the years I have caught Roach on all sorts including a minkie

Down on "my" bit of river they like claret PTN with a copper wire rib and also an olive PTN with gold wire and gold holographic and olive seal fur dubbing in the thorax .

Yes they are good looking Roach . I think they get their build from the fact they live in fast water ?? They actually fight every bit as good if not better than a trout does of similar size !
