Default Summer run Steelhead on a dry fly.

This clip has been around a bit, but still a great watch. Love the later part where you can actually see the fish 'flash at,' but miss the 'fluff.' But persistence pays off:

The clip was taken on the North Umpqua River (fly only section).

Fred,

You've posted this before (may have been a different forum though) and I downloaded it then and still have it. Simply an amazing bit of river and footage. And i love that screaming reel at the end

Glad you put it up again though; it deserves another airing. BTW I think this should be in the Trout and Grayling or Sea Trout boards: that's what Steelhead are after all - they deserve the mainstream attantion on here IMHO.

Best regards,

Ben

What's this "trout and Grayling or .... " stuff?"

Steelhead are the fish of GODS!!

Kidding aside, if you hook one (a very good thing) your 'odds' of landing the damned thing if it's over 10 pounds are really slim.... if your flies on the end of a 6-8 pound test leader. The 'damned things' love to go AIRBORNE in lower water flows.

If you've got you're 'whits about you' as soon as you see him clear the water, you'd better be 'bowing to the fish,'' or have a really light drag on your reel and lots of beach to run like hell.
