Smile First pike of the year on the fly

I got home from work early mon night so decided to grab the fly rod and head to my local water which has been getting abused for years and is only 5 mins from home,i never had much confidence due to the abuse but decided to take my new friends approach that a wasnt leaving untill a caught something,i choose a spot and fished for about 1 hour, not even a bite,a decided to move spots,i tried fishing at all different dephs, nothing,i then changed my fly to a fritz leech, second cast and i thought i had snagged up in the weeds, then the snag started moving and there it was my first pike of the year on the fly,it was 2 pun but great fight,i then caught another 2 jacks for 5 pun,i was so happy to have caught some pike exspecially after the recent abuse on the water, its a shame because it could b a good water if it was watched like it was years ago,i will b returning to the water shortly,i have only been fly fishing for the last 2 years but i am hooked,my new friend has made me look at fishing in a different way, thanks

Well done Garzo, only fished for pike once and caught a Jack on my first cast, great little fighters and stunning fish, I think. Im glad your 'new friend' has gave you a more possitive outlook with regards to fishing but remember it's not called 'catching' There will be loads of times when you blank and it's frustrating especially when others around you are hooking into one after the other but its the whole experience I love it's not just about catching a fish, I love being outside relaxed enjoying the quiet and the challenge that fishing brings sometimes.

I have a great passion for fishing but due to personal circumstances haven't been able to get out but hope to in the next cpl weeks and cant wait. Might even target a few pike
