Default Pike set up?

Whats the set up for fly fishing for pike from the reel through to the fly?I recently bought a snowbee deep blue 9#, I believe this is good enough for a start.

Default Snowbee Deep Blue

I've got the Snowbee Deep Blue as well - feels and looks like a lovely rod but only been out with it a couple of times so haven't caught with it as yet.

Still trying to get used to casting "budgies" with it as only got it last year and was hardly out trout fishing never mind pike fishing last year.

Was hoping to get out with it today but a wee bit too windy - knowing me I'd end up with a hooked budgie in the back of my head...

for a basic setup i use fly line onto five foot of 25lb flourocarbon then 12inch 95lb flurocarbon as a trace then onto a clip then the fly.

However depends on where you are fishing and what depth of water you want the fly to fish at.

For great advice and loads of help join the PFFA.

Can any of you guys recommend a decent 9/10 intermediate line for pursuing old esox? I have been using an old scientific anglers slow sinking line and been having no success on the loughs at all. The river seems to be more productive but im only getting jacks to 7lb. Cheers.

What was recommended to me Val was The snowbee surf line, They also do an excellent pike line by all accounts.

Hi Sean, large arbour reel with a good drag system.cortland pike or a line with short head for close work in the shallows and that guideline sounds good.bring it up to me and i'll set the lot up for ya.
