Question Build your perfect Perch fly ?

Hi Guys

Ive limited experience on perch on the fly and they seem to get caught on all sorts for trout patterns ! all rather ramdom and often caught be accident in pursuit of trout

We all know there are established "brown trout", "Rainbow trout" even "Pike" patterns that have been developed to target these species and very effective they are too. Id like to take the ramdomness out of the equation

Ideally id like to build a perch fly box specifically to target them

To this end ive been playing on the vice .........figure mostly white ? bit of flash ? bit of red ? plenty of movement ? a bit of weight ?

Came up with these for starters........... if you were building "the perfect" perch fly what would you come up with ???

Default Perch Fly

Great flies mate I'm sure they will catch perch....and rainbows. That's the thing, I would have thought ANY lure suitable for rainbows would do for perch and vice versa. By the way, I have caught several large perch over the years while trouting but my largest [3lb plus] have all come on buzzer or other imitative patterns. I fish Toft Newton a lot and I am sure that other regulars who fish there will back me up on the size of the perch that place has and how many come out on buzzers etc.

All depends on what the Perch are eating where you intend to fish for them, so for me it's match the hatch Where i fish it's all about the Bleak, Dace and Roach so white and silver streamers are the name of the game, as shown in the previous Perch thread....

EDIT: As for action, here's one of my Pike flies on a 5/0. Same as for Perch, just larger...

Basically a marabou and zonker creation, all those soft and mobile fibres make it swim on it's own...
