Default Recommended Pike fly rod

Can anyone recommend a good Pike fly rod? I am using a 9' #9 Daiwa Wilderness with WF 9 floaters and sinkers but somehow (i assume its not my technique) cant seem to get a decent distance. What about the Greys GRXI+ or GS2 in a #9 or #10?

I do a blagging 4 piece 10' 10#-11# built on a Harrison Special ( I designed it .)

Delivered £200 in tube and case and the whole thing British Built personally and by me for the job - not a modded cheapo Chinese version of an American Saltwater 9 footer ! ( Which is what you've got and are looking to replace with another ! )

Buy British - it really does make sense !

Best wishes

The Vision GT4 9' #10 gets some good reviews from people on these forums.

Have you tried stepping up a line weight? - that sometimes helps and a new line is cheaper than a new rod!

cheers

Default new line

I had the same problem with my T3, the Cortland 444 intermediate I was using would not load the rod. After a long chat with the chaps at Orvis, I got myself a Airflow 40plus coldwater 9wt intermediate. I have never looked back, it worked a treat. Apparently it is half a line weight heavier than it is labels.

I hope this might save you buying a new rod, if not your still have a great line to go with your new rod.

Im the same as Jason, sounds like the rod is ok just change the line. I use the Rio Outbounds, not to dissimilar to the Airflo.
If you are after a rod have a look at the Greys platinum saltwater 9wt I,ve had one for 3yrs now, they have come down a lot in price. nice rod
