I don't like seeing them at inland fisheries either but the sad fact is, they do indeed have a place in the food chain, primarily because we put them there. We made nice easy inland haunts stuffed with stocked rainbows for them to feast on after we'd out-competed them at their natural game by over-harvesting the sea fish that they would doubtless have stayed put for, as they'd done for thousands of years before we interfered.

It seems a shame that due to our own (man's) ignorance and greed we are left with little alternative but to consider destroying something that is just doing it's best to survive a situation we ourselves have created.

the same could be said about "rats" we have built towns on top of them and make it easy for them to eat and thrive they also have a place in this world. but i dont feel sorry for them they get heavly controlled and so should these comorants.

Hi all,

My first post so apologies in advance if I mess it up..

Started fly fishing, mainly for course fish, last year and just caught my first Pike of around 6lb, it had evidence of injury, and to me looks like a stab wound.. I figured it was a Cormorant...

Haven't quite figured out how to add the image, any clues welcomed then I can share the picture..

Cheers

R
