Default Toothy Critters

Anyone have experience of using the Toothy Critters pike leaders? The ones with the wire/hook clip at the end and if so what are your opinion[s]?

Hibbs, or anybody else who would like to comment. Thanks for the reply. I have decided to have a go at making my own leaders and have opted for some Surflon Micro Supreme 7 strand in 20lb after reading many complimentary reviews. I still have a few questions. What method do you use for attaching pike flies to the end of your chosen wire? In theory you can knot this to the fly but this would be time consuming and wasteful if changing the fly on a regular basis. I notice there is another thread showing Dave Lumbs pike clips but they appear a bit "clumsy" to me and being non pliable may inhibit the flies movements. Would tying a split ring or someother attachment to the end be better? Finally, how do I attach the Micro Supreme to my fluoro leader, Allbright, loop to loop etc? I am looking for as streamlined/pliable a leader [aren't we all] as I can.

Agree with Hibbs. About 6' of 20lb, I use Tynex, and then titanium wire. Swivel at one end and crosslock link at the other.
Depending on the type of line andespecially with heavy flies the leader may need to be shortened to prevent the fly from falling short. If you use a clear tip or clear intermediate line the shortness of the leader does not matter. On floating lines try to have the leader as long as possible.
Some of my leaders are used with wiggle cups to give a bit more action. You can get these from Steve Parton.

When I make my leaders I use 6ft of 20lb floro then to the end of this i tie in a small ring that the carp boy,s use. Then I have 12" of 20lb tyger wire and to finish i use Fastach Snap size 3. To attach to my fly line I use a simple loop to loop. This set up has never let me down and I don't have to keep shortening the leader every time my wire get hammered.
