Default Oh, Mr Bailey.....

Have just watch John Bailey on TV on his 'on the fly' series. It was the one focussing on female anglers and at one point a young girl latches into what is clearly a decent fish on float tackle on a fixed line/fly rod set up. JB enthuses, quite understandably, re the size of this fish and declares it to be one of the largest rudd he has ever seen.......
The problem is, once the fish was shown on screen it was CLEARLY a roach of around 2lb. A belting fish, but defo not a rudd. I am just a bit surprised that this detail escaped a mainly coarse fishing tv pundit/expert in the first place and that it also got past the edit too.
Have a watch and see - don't think my eyes were playing tricks.

If you want to see a nice rudd you need to watch Matt Hayes when he caught six over 3lbs from a day ticket fishery. This won him the Drennan Cup and was possibly the best rudd catch ever and they were gorgeous.

I had been spared to see another spring, and I thank God for it.”
