New years resolution is to catch a pike on the fly.
Any forum members specialise in pike flies?
Would i get away with a 7wt rod or do i need a 9wt?

Cheers

Munro

Ill help you catch your first pike mate, but you need a 9# for starters just to handle the bigger flies. a 7 will fold in two.

as for flies contact dougie or the rook on here...top quality.

Whereabouts did you catch it? The South, I would presume. Every loch near me is frozen solid, I'm considering going icefishing.

Yep it was in the south but still cold as the landing net was rock solid when left on the bank.Much like the end of my nose!

Hmmm, interesting. I've been planning to start spinning for pike for a while now, but the weather has hindered it. Did you have to fish the fly quite slowly?

After receiving a picture txt of that fish and receiving a call from a friend we decided to go after them the next day.
Blanked on the Pike but did get my first Seatrout of the year (Which went back straight away without pics etc because it was out of season)
Nice fish Simon.

Well done... I was ice fishing yesterday and had a tug on second cast and didn't connect! Looks like it will be solid with us for a while!
