Default pfleuger trion

hello have been considering buying one of these to use for pike. it will be used with a shakespere atlantis 10wt and 10wf big fly lines from john norris. i was just wondering what your opinions are, 1 of these reels in general, and 2 what size to get, as there are some conflicting veiws on line capacity.

thank you

P.s found this table with the capacities onhttp://http://www.pfluegerfishing.com/products/trion-fly-reel.html

would i be right in thinking that a double taper 10 line would take up more room on a spool than a wf10?

Hi Jim, I am a big fan of the Trion reels. Excellent value for money IMO and a first class drag.
Some say they are a bit heavier than other reels, but on a pike set up I wouldn't think that matters too much, also the odd ounce is hardly worth worrying about.
I use them with my stillwater set up and I have WF #7 lines on and loads of backing, so they should be fine with a #8.
I also use them for sea trout and grilse fishing.
Well proven design, and can take a knock. I have many far more expensive bits of jewellry on my rods, but the Trion is always a pleasure to use.
Good luck.
Steven.

I'll second Mr Trout on this one. I love my trion

A little bit on the heavy side but at least you can drop it, scratch it on the rocks and it still works. I carried one of mine in my rucksack while travelling around the world for 2 years and it still looks great and works like new...

I have two trion reels both fantastic never let me down. For the money you cannot go wrong. I landed a double figure pike when flyfishing for chub with a 4lb tippet on my trion 5/6 reel superb drag smooth and reliable.
Its had a lot of use and a few knocks but it still performs as well as it did from new.

Excellent reels, very robust, great drag, ideal Pike Stopper!

I don't know where you're looking to buy one, but this place is the cheapest I've found; Shakespeare Pflueger Trion Fly Reel - 20-30% off UK RRP on all fly fishing reels

cheers, for all your comments guys, dont think i've heard a bad word said about these reels yet! just need to decide what size to get? think will maybe go for the 3.75" as doubt will need that much backing, and it will be lighter and save me a bit of cash too, which is allways nice. what do you guys think? will it be big enough for a 10wf?

Cheers for that link f.o.g that looks like a really good price!

I would love a go at Pike on the Fly,I take it you need a saltwater rod that will fish a 10 line, and would you just need a floater and a sinker?
